Chapter History

 

Most Honorable Charles I. Brown, having graduated from Howard University traveled west to live and teach in Topeka, Kansas. In 1917, Most Honorable Charles I. Brown chose the Kansas State Agricultural College campus on which to establish the DELTA chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

 

With that decision on April 9th, 1917 the Kansas State Agricultural College became the home and base of the "Distinguished" Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

 

The Original Chapter House still stands at 1020 Colorado St. in Manhattan, Kansas smaller, but still standing strong as a testament of those young men.

 

Through the Delta Chapter walk an elite group of men honored and haled by others as true brothers who live by the fraternity motto, “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.”

Honorary Historian: Patt Patton, Kansas State University Librarian. She has been instrumental in safeguarding the history of this chapter.

 

Chapter Motto: “No Weak Links,” established in the fall of 1999 by the Spring, Summer, and Fall 1999 pledge classes of the Delta Chapter.
